!!! The tolaga beach races!! Wow! I remember going to those as a kid in the 70’s….. wasn’t sure if they still happened … glad they do – although i feel sorry for the horses sometimes.

Oh, this is wonderful, stunning horse & good candid shot. Racing along a beach – great fun! They used to hold a beach race outside Melbounre years back, have no idea if they still do, you’ve made me want to check it out :-d

Have to say, Himi – there’s a book I’ve got called “Highway 61 – journeys around East Cape”, which has beautiful shots in it – but without taking anything away from that guy’s work, I think i would prefer to see a book with your images of the coast in it… To me, as someone who grew up there, your stuff seems to come from the inside – you’re shooting from inside the heart of the place, whereas the other guy’s work was more that of a visitor – a bit more National Geographic. Have you seen that book? It has a foreword by Witi Ihimaera.
