Worth the Weight

Get out or endure
For this life, for these lies
There is no cure

There is no remedy, there is no reason
One slip and you’re out
On treason

It strains, it drains
The sun shines on the darkness
But in my head it rains

The lies, they tire
It so dark
I want to light the world on fire

There is no end
One choice
Break or bend

Project, protect
It’s a mess
Clear out, defect

When it comes, it floods
I seek the skies
But I am drowning in mud

Watching, waiting, anticipating
Block my ears
They’re still “scream” debating

In my face, in my mind
Depressed, suppressed
Am I the only one that is not blind?

Bury the things I’ll regret
Hit rewind
And this moment I’d reject

Fast forward and look, I’m…
Sacrifices and lies
I welcome the dread

Take me back… but we’re still here
As I ran from the hate
I ran to all I fear

The cracks are forming
Jagged lines beneath the surface
This is what I get for conforming

Take a chance, let them in
Let them stun you with their pretty lies
Trust is in itself, sometimes the greatest sin

It’s all so shiny, such a thrill
When the world catches up
I know who’ll pay the bill

Take a walk, to nowhere at all
To stay or leave
It’s your call
