“Triste train” is a word play by Marcel Duchamp referring to his painting “Sad Young Man on a Train”. The two words have nearly the same sound, but different meanings, and their association and repetition produces a kind of melody that reproduces the repetitive sound of the train and the monotonous walking of the sad young man down the corridor.

About this sketchbook project
The dolls’ parts were carefully assembled with needle and thread. I used one unique thread to sew all dolls – the thread runs throughout the whole sketchbook, binding the dolls’ limbs with the rest of the body and at the same time binding each story with the next one.
