Don't deny a short-life butterfly's love by

The butterfly offers its love to the boy. The boy tries but he cannot deny it. Even though he knows all about the butterfly’s short life, the love is so beautiful and so unique, that he prefers to live it and suffer after its end.

Mixed media: ink drawing on paper and photomanipulation

You can buy the original ink drawing here

The ink drawing of the male figure is based on an Egon Schiele self-portrait, 1911, Leopold Museum, Vienna

better to have loved & lost than never loved at all! I admire the lad for taking a chance. Just wondering if that’s a musical stave at the bottom? Perhaps an empty stave representing the story within this sonata that is yet to unfold?
    Awesome work as usual :)

  • Thank you Matt!
Yes, that is a music staff! I hadn’t thought about its symbolism really, I just drew this… orange… music staff; it feeled… intuitionally right… Hm…
