Anke-Maria Sander has Friedreich’s Ataxia, a degenerative, genetic, neuro-muscular disease, for which there is no cure. She uses a wheelchair since she was 15. Anke is my inspiration and consultant for my disability awareness series.

    Thanks for the watch, Ina. I’ve perused your remarkable gallery – remarkable for its vitality and profound humanity, and for its imaginative splendor. Your work resonates strongly with me. My father has Alzheimers and my mother is wheelchair-bound. Making art cannot cure them or completely salve my own distress, but there’s no doubt that it helps. Again, thanks.
