yesterday’s news litters the streets as a
new wave of hypocrisy is advertised on the corner
a broken family huddles in the bus shelter and
a little boy holds his balloon tight against the gale
the same old man is sitting near the same old post office
whittling away at another
indistinguishable shape
across the road, buses send clustered clouds of rotting pollution into the air
and a dark figure trails tendrils of smoke into the air
today there is no extraordinary
amongst the ordinary
there is no beauty in the commonplace routines
there is nothing different to be found
and there are no epiphanies to be had
hippie chicks flock to the town hall steps
proclaiming far fetched notions of equality
whilst narcissistic teens discuss their latest lacerations
and self proclaimed artists hurry to the slam
grey lit paths l e a d away
into the daily humdrum
as mundane thoughts fill the minds of passers by
today’s news will soon belong to uncaring yesterday
with all affectations of interest dropped
oh how I hate the ordinary
how loud can silence get?
it’s resounding in my ears
deafening me
SHH.
I.can’t.take.the.noise.anymore
endlessly the same, a circle of monotony
the continuity
is grinding

and…
there are no epiphanies to be had
…but maybe I just found one
SHH. I can't take the silence anymore
