wow! pretty darn good for a tentative attempt at HDR, Imogene! makes you real grateful for moody/ cloudy days, eh? :)

I like where you are going with this Imogen, But the burn-out is a bit distracting.
Recently I found a solution to burnout problems…
I take it you have composited the clouds into this image…. if so:
-make an inverted (negative) B&W layer of the clouds.
-now adjust the OPACITY of the negative layer until you like the balance between the original layer and the negative layer. (So you can see the original layer thru the negative layer)
-MERGE when ready.
This ONLY works to restore lost detail if there is something there in the original. It might take a fair bit of trial and error.
Have a look at my image CROATIAN FORT… The right hand side of the fort was horribly washed out, but using this technique I was able to restore some of the lost detail in the brickwork.
Imogene Munday
yeah, i dont like it either :(
the clouds aren’t composited though, but i might try your solution with a cut out piece of the burned area or something
thanks for the advice :)

This is superb Imogene. I don’t know your views on Christianity, but this is so perfect for the Second Coming. In Luke 21:27 it says, ”....we will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with great power and glory”. I see the huge bright area, (I think thar’s whats being calling the ‘burn out’, as the “power and the glory’. I love this one just the way it is.
