the tree stands strong
against the wind and the rain
watching life’s harmony
and watching life’s pain
its branches sway in the wind
leaves fall to the ground
wind howls through them
a lonesome sound
bark withered and worn
its destiny
strength in its limbs
a wise old tree
the sun shines through
its golden leaves
in the beauty of life
a soft sweet breeze
memories held
in mists of time
holding close
dreams sublime
