Arriving from Italy to Innsbruck the choice was to cross the Fernpass in the direction of Kemten (in Germany). We took that choice instead passing the Intall highway. We could always take the quicker route back in the evening.
The road is extremely quiet, on the antique Via Claudia Augusta Roman path. At almost 1000m. of altitude, nearby the ‘sunny side’ of the Fernpass area, in the village of Nassereith embedded in the Gurgltal valley, suddenly i have seen the Fernstein castle: time demand to stop the bus because the view and because of the possibility to take a “shot”. In front of us – the “Schloss Fernsteinsee” was visible.
I know – it is today a hotel with sauna and the likes, but with a little bit of fantasy it’s not too difficult to imagine horses, soldiers, riders and knights’… BUT where are the princesses?
