The Huldra is a creature in Scandanavian Myth that takes on the appearance of a beautiful young woman so it can lure it’s male victims into the forest (with the promise of kinky sex no doubt!) where she devours them.. The Huldra is a shapeshifter and often is in a “inbetween” stage where half of her torso is a hollowed out tree..which she can slip in and out of as need be…
Technical stuff for all you PhotoShop geeks – This took approximately 12 hours to do and has 27 layers (several of those layers are “adjustment layers” (especially using “curves”)as well as the usual texture and color overlays..)
All photographs used (model, forest background, tree trunk ,vines, and textures) were shot by me – absolutely no stock images used…

Ooooo – love it, so sexy and alluring, yet disturbingly eerie. Great description to boot. Great work.
Thank you kindly Julie!

You men will fall for anything with a pretty face, eh? No matter if half of it is a tree stump!
Outstanding work, it flows and blends well.
True – and did you know the the myth of the mermaid is supposedly derived from horny ancient mariners looking at sea lions and thinking to themselves “.hmmmmmm – I wonder?…”

Mmmm Sea lions. lol
Brilliant work Thomas. Fantastic merging her with the tree truck with just her arm showing, just waiting so she can entice her next victim. Very eerie & frightening
Thank you as always my dear Pinky!

Oh dude you have no Idea how cool this is! Not just the image but I am organizing a shoot at this very moment that is based on exactly this!!! The story about the Huldra is exactly what I have described the feel of the shoot and the character to the model I am using! Until now I never knew that there was a mythical creature called a Huldra! How awesome you put this up three weeks before my shoot date! You are a legend, I have to go google now so I can learn more. Dude you rock! I promise I won’t copy your work, I just hope I can get it to your standards! This is a really great image!
Hey Krisso – there is lots of info on the Huldra (and other seductive Forest creaures) out there for sure… And of course – I don’t feel any sense of ownership to ANY mythic them… I feel that they are all archetypal forces that reside in us all, so it intrigues me when peiople do their own unique takes on classic myths or tales… Have at it man – and make sure you post the results in my Myths Legends and Fairytales group!
