There is a phenomenon that Jazz musicians call “Woodshedding” which is when a player retreats from the world of playing gigs and locks himself in a room (or woodshed as the case may be) until he “gets it right”..or has a breakthrough in his skill/creativity level..
Interestingly enough an artistic form of woodshedding is precisely what inspired this piece ; I have consciously been working on getting better as an artist and this piece represents the breakthrough – both in technique and in inspiration… Quite frankly – it is the first piece that I am truly satisfied with, the first where there isn’t a little voice telling me that I am not good enough and it is now the benchmark for my future works… I am never looking back again…
