I’ve never considered myaself a “Fantasy Artist” although I know that images like this can stereotype me as such… I find my models through a networking site and quite a few of them look at my earlier work and then request that I “turn them into a fairy”… I have done several shoots like this but am now going to put a moratorium on this theme – unless I can twist or pervert it in some unique way..
There is a huge audience for fairy-themed work, but I wouldn’t feel right if I set my sights on that “market” and cranked out crowd-pleasing images…
I have a lot of ideas that I need to express.. A lot of them are dark, twisted, and (perhaps) disturbing…but i feel compelled to express them , regardless of whether they are “marketable” or not… For me – the main question is do I put this work (and by that I mean the more challenging, disturbing images) out under my own name – thus potentially alienating future commerce and a safe niche or do I just say “fuck it” and follow my inner angels and/or demons?

Ohh Love this!! but your question is a double edged sword my friend. You and only You can make it. I’ll be here and will support whichever avenue you choose. Hugs Vonne

  • Thanks Vonne – Most of the time when I ask questions, I am not really expecting anyone to give me the answers.. I just like to instigate thought (and think out loud!)

Amazing work!! I for one say put your own name on all of it,, shows diversity!! As for me,, I’ve decided to create for me and that’s the name of that tune:)

  • Thank you – and thanks for the advice – although I meant putting my name on the dark and twisted stuff actually – not the romantic style which I have gotten known for…

I LOVE it- Its not twee as some fairy images can be (and they cetainly have a market), but this is beautiful and slightly dark without crossing completely into a gothic genre- enchanting indeed xxx

  • Thank you Anita – I try to avoid cliches whenever possible which involves a bit of tighrope-walking when you do this kind of image!

I think you’ve definitely put your stamp on this theme cause you’ve produced something unique here… especially in your processing of the background. Nice saturated colors too. It’s a massive take!

Why not open a second account with images in this style? I’ve seen lots of others do this. You’d be able to assess the reaction and it would give you time to ultimately decide which way to go.
    Nice work!

  • Thanks Billyboy – I appreciate the kind words very much… I have no qualms about putting this kind of work under my name – it is the darker and more sexual imagery that I was referring to…
