Oooooh, this is awesome Thomas, really scary & eerie, wonderful layering effect, fantastic (when i saw your name, not imageshifter, i thought whose that in my watchlist now, lol, i add about 1 or 2 more a day)

  • Thomas Dodd replied

    Thank you kindly Pinky!

I had to finally lay the imageshifter to rest (didn’t want to KILL him mind you – just bury him in a shallow grave for a while…)

  • Laurie McClave

    Laurie McClave

Nicely done, they look like parchment. Love it and the feel!

  • Thomas Dodd replied

Thanks Laurie – the parchment effect was from some closeups I took of some water-stained books with diirt on them. They seem to work really well for giving an ancient kind of look to this…
Alwas a pleasure to hear from you and CONGRATS on being on the home page!!!!

  • Ariane

    Ariane

I always feel like I want to write a novel about the way your images make me feel – they make me think, reassess, research and heaps more – thanks as always for the mental and visual stimulation

  • Thomas Dodd replied

Ariane – that is always the best compliment – I am beyond pleased that my work has this effect on you…. Thank you as always for your kind words!

  • Beth Lambert

    Beth Lambert

The textures are amazing…the imagery is striking and thought-provoking…probably very personal to everyone who looks at it….other then “wow”, I’m at a loss for words.
Thank you for adding this to Stillness Speaks…I’m pretty sure this image speaks on SO many levels.

  • Thomas Dodd replied

Thank you Beth – and you have done more than fine with the words!

  • Beth Lambert

    Beth Lambert

Oops, sorry ‘bout that. I must have been getting my wires crossed…what I meant to say is you SHOULD add it to the Stillness Speaks group…lol…sorry for my faux pas

  • Thomas Dodd replied

No problem whatsoever ma’am – I’m on my way to join right now – you have me intrigued!

  • pinkyjain

Well, i will be looking forward to his resurrection. But your work is just as amazing & brilliant while we await that resurrection

  • Alisa Gonzalez

    Alisa Gonzalez

do you read terry pratchett? wyrd sisters is my favorite book of his.

  • Thomas Dodd replied

No – is he one of Neil Gaiman’s cronies?

  • Alisa Gonzalez

    Alisa Gonzalez

gaiman is one of his cronies. ;) but yes. they’ve written together. he has a wonderful sense of humor. you’re welcome to my library any time sir.

  • Thomas Dodd replied

Your recommendations will suffice my dear… I’ll have to check that one out….

  • JenniferB

    JenniferB

Fantastic artwork, as always, but out of curiosity, how come the sister in the centre has her neck craned towards the left in the same position as the first sister, and yet the third sister’s neck is craned in the opposite direction? Sorry, I have OCD, little off-centre things like this tend to disturb my equilibrium until they’re either set straight or answered, I guess I’m just too dense to be able to tell the story tonight. ;-)

  • Thomas Dodd replied

Sorry to throw you off kilter Jenn – this is the same picture manipulated three different ways – so you will have to resolve it in your head my dear (or paint a smiley face on your monitor!)
As always – good to hear from you and thanks for the compliment!

  • AnaBanana

    AnaBanana

oh this is nice, weird, cool… i love it

  • Thomas Dodd replied

    Thanks Ana!

  • JenniferB

    JenniferB

but but but… I figure one out of three sisters always misses out, you know, like gets ganged up on by the other two, but generally it’d be the middle sister… okay, I’ve resolved it. I can sleep again now. :-) I do love your art, it makes me think… dangerous that… thinking…

  • Dave Miller

    Dave Miller

This will sit nicely with your best work. They look as if carved form old marble on a tomb with dawn rising. Surperior work.

  • Thomas Dodd replied

Dave – thanks so much… You have quite a way with words and I always enjoy reading your comments/descriptions!

Had to look at it several times to let it get through. All kind of thoughts come up. They’re prisoned together in an old storybook or a gravethomb. Love the layering and textures. Like an ancient image surviving through time…
    Anna

  • Thomas Dodd replied

Thank you Anna – I was thinking those same things as I was making this… Once again – we are on the same wavelength!

wow. totally digging the burlappy type of texture on the left. these textures you achieve are amazing. as always i’m in awe. oh, and i prefer Gaiman over Pratchett, but Good Omens is one HELL of a book. ;)

  • Thomas Dodd replied

Thanks DA – I was wondering when someone was going to mention the mesh… I was rather fond of that texture too (it was the ripped apart spine of an old book lying on the ground)!

Aside from “The Sandman”, I’ve only read “Good Omens” by Gaiman (which I very much liked)

  • Shanina Conway

    Shanina Conway

Oh this is fascinating they almost look mummified…wonderful texturing;)

  • Thomas Dodd replied

Thanks Shanina – I was definitely thinking the mummy thing too – especially those ones in Mexico that are lined up along the catacomb walls…

  • butchart

OK.. now I am hooked. I never knew there were hidden objects. I have spent hours going over several pics and found MANY! How cool. I may have to give up the male nude just to find this stuff. :)

hint..hint.. if you care to hide something for me.

Clotho, Lachesis & Atropos? May they spin us, measure us and cut us down when it is time, for theY spin the thread of fate into our flesh and no man or woman can avoid the weave of fate decreed by the Moirai. :o)

    Wonderful.

In Spanish we call them “trillizas”... that means… three… in one..
But here they seem to be Triamese…. the three born together… and with only one heart..
Imagine how tired it may be..
and what problem when one is in love… Which oneĀ“s the heart suffering the pain?
Here… today… they seem to be a little annoyed the ones with the other and among them..
so… the first pang of getting in love are already there.
Rosa (I love it…. very. You have done such a good job with the idea, layering, shades of colours, expression, all…!)

Well, it might say something about me that I don’t find them eerie! lol. .. Actually, the number three and the idea of the fates always compelled me to feel more akin than fearful. . . three is powerful in stories and lore everywhere. . .the stepsisters and cinderella. . .the witches in hamlet, the three wishes of the genie. . . three as a number of completion and union. . . andit seems it is always three hearts in the happy ending machine. . .

And these three, seem to me, to be simple truths. . . the inescapable. . . not tired, not worn. . . just complete. Their inaction is just the resignation to truth. . . and perhaps why we, and even the gods, would fear them. . .

beautiful work as always my friend. Your art is amazing.
