One of my few images of a MALE God form… Bacchus represents revelry, drunkeness, poetic intoxication and lust. We all need a bit of his madness in our souls – but not TOO much!

Your description of Bacchus makes him sound like modern day man! LOL . . . Your artwork of him is utterly fabulous . . . beautiful treatment you are using on this outstanding piece . . .
Thomas Dodd replied
Hmmmm – never looked at it that way… but how many guys today are spouting poetry at the strip club or sports bar hmmmm?
Thank you so much Madame Truth!
;D

LOL . . good point! All depends what a man considers poetry while drinking away with his mates . . . LOL . . . All in jest . . . I am not a man hater . . . LOL . . honestly, your artform is incredible . . .
Deborah Holman
His eye really conveys the madness, I think I’ll stick to a little of what you fancy does you good !!!
Thomas Dodd replied
Thanks Deborah – I quit drinking many years ago – but still find that Bacchus’s energy can be channeled in other more creative ways!
;D
Susan Epps Oliver

What a great piece of art again. Beautiful indeed.
I agree about the bit of madness, we all need.
The color is so warm, the hair with the red flowers so beautifully done. The eye makes the madness come out. Keep on going.
Anna
Thomas Dodd replied
Thanks anna – the “flowers” were pebbles actually (and I was going for it looking like a wreath of grapes in the hair) and the eye was from an eagle! Glad you like it!
Carlos Solorza
an excellent work of art
Thomas Dodd replied
Thanks so much Carlos!

I’ve just added him to my favourites because he keeps drawing me in, but scares me at the same time, he is like a warning

Hmmmm – indeed he is – alluring and scary at the same time (like all the best seducers!)

The texture is so magical! It reminds me tree. It has such vibrant color and the face is so expressive.
Thomas Dodd replied
Good eye Mino – I use foliage a lot as textures. In this one , it was earth and grass (that’s what is giving him the tufts of facial hair beneath his ear!)
Thank you kindly!
MinoYasue
What madia this work is based on? Is this digital?
Thomas Dodd replied
Yes indeed (Photoshop is my tool of choice)- but I always strive for my work to look organic and NOT digital! I guess since you had to ask, I must be doing good!

Saw this on the main page and had to click on it. That eye, man … there’s this sort of hidden threat within it, as there is in all bouts of drunken revery. Very intriguing. Knockout job.
