Pandora

All of the elements of this photomanipulation were photographed in my studio and asembled in Adobe Photoshop.
The model portraying Pandora is one of my mainstays – Laurie Love (who is also “Alice” in my Wonderland series) She can also be seen in this picture as the portrait hanging on the wall.
The model for the “evil” spirits is 17 year old Israeli beauty Shelly Haggig…
The Pandora myth always fascinated me as a child (and still does today) being that it can be interpreted on so many levels. Perhaps it is meant to be a cautionary tale of how some things should not be meddled with or consequently – the importance of following directions.
I like to think however, that she represents the endless inquisitive spirit of humankind and that with every innovation and step forward , there can be negative consequences unleashed. However, in order for us to evolve and grow as human beings – we must face our inner demons and banish them…Only then can we truly evolve… and of course, the last words of the tale are:
“And then there was Hope!”

Well I had to pick a favorite of yours and this is it. I kept coming back to it for some reason and then it hit me. It reminds me of myself. Very curious and it can get you in trouble sometimes. :)

You certainly set the right mood for this. The colour treatment is excellent as is your model who shows anxiety and wonder with a bit of fear. Her expression is realistic. She’s good.
I like the flow of the figures from the box which shows to me a positive intent. Usually when one shows wicked intent in a photo the evil scatters about to every corner. These coming from the box in black dresses seem rhythmic, graceful even. I also noticed the person in the background photo has her hands to her chest which is of interest to me. What a well crafted art piece. You’ve really done well in expressing your interpretation of Pandora’s Box. This is done wonderfully.
