That Lustful Look...
I’ve been working on some new (to me at least!)Photoshop retouch techniques
“Carving” is basically copying the photo – desaturating it and then using the burn and dodge tools to lighten or darken selected areas on the skin or background. Set this layer to Softlight and then apply it to the original photo (aka “base layer”) .with a lower opacity (I used about 60% on this one)
I also used another copied layer run through the High Pass filter and set that to multiply (this sharpens the image without using unsharp mask), and yet another was placed on top of that with some subtle arirbrushing on the skin..
Finally – I put a texture layer over the whole photo set to overlay and with about 45% opacity…
I think I’m going to start doing this all the time now!

Yeah – I heard of him -although Dave Hill and Bill Simone are the main two I’ve been paying attention to – of course an easy way to get this look is use the Lucis plug-in!

I just love the simple composition combined with the deep deep textures.
I still havnt even begun to go digital but am getting into the whole texture thing alot more in my pantings – alot due to looking at your work I think – big thanks Thomas.

Thank you Ariane – so sweet of you to say that!
Keep on painting – there are too many photographers anyway!

I admire the work of digital artists such as yourself that can create such impactful images like I see here. I use photoshop only as a tool to get me to my end result quicker; the final pencil, or watercolour painting.
