This plant is one of the first to flower in spring in the Pacific Northwest. It is an evergreen and many different flowers have been genetically altered to be quite beautiful in their display. Interesting, the plant species can be poisonous. The other name of the plant is the Christmas Rose…..but it is NOT related to the rose. It is native to Europe and spreads accross the Mediterranean region and Central Europe, the north coast of Turkey and into the Caucasus. There is another plant that is located in China and another ‘atypical’ species that borders Turkey and Syria. Each flower has five petals and remain, once bloomed, for several months. Then the leaves get quite big. They are a very decorative plant and flowers can be quite colorful. They do like the shade and that is where I have them in my garden (under a large tulip tree). I have never had a problem growing them there and there has been some hybridization

I have been creating fusion photography for over 10 years and have been in numerous shows and galleries. My training includes courses in Digital Art and fine art. I continually work to improve my art and the craft of photography.
