From afar you beckoned to me
like a cool fertile oasis in the scorching desert
How I longed to taste your liquid coolness in my mouth
to lie down beneath your sheltering palms
and be lulled into ecstasy on your undulating sands

When I awoke you where nowhere to be seen
I lay upon the anvil earth, alone
more parched than before
robbed of my own juices
sucked dry by your voracious need

You are a careless illusion
a heartless beacon
a fiery longing
I lost myself in
until I awoke from your mirage

For all the women who whose heart has been mangled by the master of deception
