For Playful Photogenic Pets’ challenge, ‘How has your pet made a difference in your life?’ and also for the Rescued Pets group-

I rescued Scarlet around two years ago. She was bred by a backyard breeder and dumped at a shelter very early on in life. She spent 6 months in the shelter and was to be put to sleep – no one had shown any interest in her and she was going kennel mad. I didn’t think I could let this dog, who had been brought into the world, only to spend her entire life in a kennel get put to sleep, so I put in an application to adopt her and within 3 days, she was mine.

I’ve not once regretted the somewhat impulsive decision to rescue her. She is my heart dog and I love her to pieces. All she ever wants to do is be with me and all she has ever shown me is love.

I’ve been sick for 5 years and having her in my life has made being unwell just that little bit easier. When I’m feeling down, she persists with silly behaviour until I crack a smile and when I’m unwell, she simply sits or lies with me – just being in her presence makes me feel more relaxed.

She has most certainly made a positive difference in my life and I’m very thankful for it.

Ooh, she reminds me one dog from the market around here. Princessa (it´s her name) was abandoned in the street, but we found her and now we are taking care of her. Hopefully once she´ll find a family and will be as happy as you happy girl! :) Beautiful photo by the way!
