Artist's Description

Young people have formed the backbone of the protests all over the country. They spend most of their days outside protesting, volunteering, organizing, leading, etc. They are seen in the photograph sitting in front of the posters they have prepared and hung on the walls. Anyone passing by can also write something on a poster and hang it among others.

A poster reads “Starbooks” on the upper left corner of the photo, a satirical and irreverent alteration of Starbucks. Where these protesters are sitting is actually in front of a Starbucks Cafe. However, Starbucks has become a target for the protesters and public after some of their cafes in İstanbul refused to let wounded people in for treatment and locked their doors from inside. Now all Starbucks Cafes, especially those located close to the areas where protests take place, are facing difficulties in terms of puplic support and there have been campaigns on social media to discourage people from going to Starbucks.
