Badlands in Judea desert

Badlands in Judea desert

Early morning I climbed up Masada, and on my way down it I had enough light to take that picture. I just love the curves of the badlands in Judea desert in Israel. The picture was taken on May 2005

I have never quite understood why these beautiful formations are called badlands. We have them here, too, mostly in the Dakotas, and I think they are beautiful! ~Mary-Ann

Thanks. I liked the badlands in Dakota when I was traveling there, but they are in a much smaller scale.

In some ways it reminds me of a portion of the Badlands in South Dakota. The terrific play of light and shadows add depth and a feeling of vastness to the shot. Great. Bill

  • Ilan Cohen replied

Thank you so much for your comment. When I had visited the South Dakota badlands, they indeed reminded me the ones in Judea desert
