My Entry In the PhotoShop Masters Group – Ivy lzzard

1: Tell me something about the image?

I created this a few years ago using this and a picture of a lizard for reference.
My whippets always reminded me of dragons.
As with most of my work I see the potential in a photo first and go from there although the finished piece often bears little or no resemblance to its source.

2: How did you create it? (you don’t have to give away any secrets)

I wish I had secrets to give away. I used a Wacom tablet and drew/painted it as I would traditional art, with the added advantage of layers and the eraser. The scales took forever.

3: What version of PhotoShop did you use?

I can’t remember. Maybe 5?

4: Any tips or tricks you would like to Share?

I usually work first in greys and then colour it later.

5: How did you go about learning PhotoShop?

I did the tutorial that came with version 2 and went from there, picking up things as I went along.

Ivy, I think even with some of the magic explained, your work is still awesome, even more so with some idea of how you do it and the tools you use. Photographs usually suggest to me word pictures so I think I understand where you’re coming from there – but I would love to see the world through your inspired eyes for only a few minutes!!!

Your above completely surprised me. Photoshop 5!!!! I use 5.5 and now I know how much can be accomplished with this program. I haven’t even scratched the surface yet. Wonderful work, an inspiration to work towards.
