IC1396 and the Elephant Trunk Nebula (vdb142) – emission nebula complex. The brightest star in the frame, at top, is mu Cephei. It is a red supergiant star with a diameter larger than the orbit of Saturn, some 2536 times the diameter of the Sun. It is one of the largest stars we know.
Composition of two sequences:
1) Sum of 10 frames with 10-min. expositions with H-alpha narrowband filter.
2) 36 × 8-mitute frames with UHC-S filter.
Canon 350D(mod), Jupiter-21M lens (F=200mm, 1:4), EQ6PRO equatorial mount, Auto-guiding.
Lught-polluted sky of city center (Vis. limit ~3.5-4.5m)
