The “ethnic minorities” living in the Vietnamese highlands around Sapa mostly wear traditional and colourful clothing with hemp being the main source for weaving their material. Most homes have a weaving loom.
The ear rings indicate that this woman is married – you’ll notice how the ear lobes have strecthed downwards over the years.
