The Byronic Hero – DI Alec Hardy by ifourdezign

The Byronic Hero – DI Alec Hardy by

DI ALEC HARDY is the TV detective from the UK TV hit series Broadchurch, played by British actor David Tennant

Written by Chris Chibnall, Broadchurch is a quiet, idyllic (fictional) town, in the county of Dorset, England. However, the town is soon thrust into the media spotlight when it becomes the scene of murder, and young eleven year old Danny Latimer is found lying dead on the beach under the Jurassic cliffs, in what appears to be suspicious circumstances. However, it is not long before the normally quaint sleepy town and all it’s occupants come under surveilance.

Additional Note: If you live in the US/AUS, you are likely to be aware of a US version of Broadchurch, entitled Gracepoint. May I take this opportunity to say, that whilst I am a passionate fan of David Tennant’s work, I intend to remain loyal to the UK version of this show only. And therefore, I will only be creating artwork intended for Broadies.

Outstanding work (if not his best look!) I am beginning to “get it” now. We don’t get DI Alex Hardy here in the States so I wasn’t sure what you meant in your earlier comment. We do get Inspector Lewis ~ among my list of major faves (which goes back to Morse, Poirotl, Miss Marple and the rest). We are going to have to stream this! Absolutely.

  • Oh you will get him soon I believe – As Broadchurch comes to BBC America in August. I am obsessed with Broadchurch and DI Alec Hardy and Olivia Colman (Pure genius) To date, I have officially watched this series 12 times! :D And this particular painting also is my new iphone5 cover also called Hardy! See…and you thought you had issues! :D

Well I’m glad to know I’m not the only one obsessed! We downloaded all of Season 1 and watched it almost straight through! (with a 3 hr break). Insane! It’s thoroughly addictive, isn’t it! Couldn’t wait for BBC America. For one thing, the endless interruptions (ads) destroy the continuity of anything you watch on there. For another thing, they cut too much. Anyway, I loved it! Then, I always like British cop shows so much better than the rubbish they produce over here (27 shoot-outs in the first 3 minutes, 16 gory deaths before its over and you can’t tell who is worse, the perpetrators or the law). Pretty sure I’m in the wrong country! heh. The only one I’ve seen I’m not too terribly fond of, is Midsomer Murders. That one IS almost like a U.S. series; death at every turn. Just not believable given the locale!

Glad to hear Alec’s coming back! I was afraid maybe they would kill him off, the shape he was in. Kind of sad they ended Lewis but at least they did it in a good way. And they’re bringing back Endeavor! Not on BBC, on PBS. No cuts, no commercials there. Which is very cool… I can’t be without my Morse any more than I can be without the Doctor! (Issues? What issues? Who, me?? ) LOL

Just thought I’d let you know… thanks for pointing Broadchurch out to me!

  • You made me smile there!. Well see…. this is the thing. We don’t ‘actually’ know that Hardy, or even Miller for that matter, will be brought back. If not I will personally have a fictional nervous breakdown. S2 announcement came as a huge surprise in the UK, which has now led me to make up in my own fantasy world my own theories and feelings about the direction I would love their stories to take, the most comical being that of marriage! It would be not only make my fictional day, but could well be the funniest relationship EVER! — Do you Alec Hardy take Ellie…sorry I mean MILLER, to be your lawful wedded wife. Hilarious! Oh and remember, you can also get my Miller and Hardy Tee shirt from Redbubble :D (Cheeky plug there!) Once again, thanks for the support

Oh, thank you for this beautiful image! What an awesome surprise to find it while browsing thru the Doctor Who stuff. Kind of like how I surprised myself by crushing hard on DI Hardy despite my complete obsession with DT’s Tenth Doctor persona. The show is brilliant, episode 6 here in the Sates tonight, can’t wait. (Still haven’t recovered from the pain and astonishment of Hardy getting shot down by the hotel chick last week. WTF? Couldn’t she see what that cost him?)

Any chance that you will be making this image available in additional formats and sizes? Like the photo prints, in a smaller size? I would like to frame this and hang it. Because of the heartbreaking way you have captured Hardy, I’m afraid there might be just too much Secret Sorrow in those beautiful eyes to take in even the ‘small’ poster size…

Thanks again for sharing your artistry.

Travel mugs are now available and I bought one. It’s wonderful. The best-insulated mug I’ve ever used. Keeps the coffee hot and your hand cool. And it has this lovely picture of Alec Hardy on it!

  • Hi hanadora.

That’s excellent to hear. I’m sure you are the envy of your mates! Thank you for sharing your comment and more importantly making a purchase — ifourdezign
