The Radio Serial by Ian English

I have converted this to Mono as I feel it has a better retro feel to it (1/1/13)

When I was a kid before TV, my brother and I would come home from school and do our homework. We would then go outside and play for a while (unsupervised) :)) and come into the house in time for the serials on the radio. We would sit in front of the radio and listen to Tarzan, Dad and Dave, Superman and more.
Most of you are too young to remember this but there may be a few who do :)) Happy memories of a simpler life !!

a beautiful photo Ian. Radio was such a powerful medium, in that it allowed us to give our imaginations a real work-out; mostly, television doesn’t measure up in this respect – all the visuals are done for us.

  • Too true Geof !! If I had to choose between radio & television, I would choose radio for the reason you articulated so well. Thanks a lot mate !!

A great image Ian. My memory is good and I have vivid memories of that distant past. We had two radios at home in the ’40s and ’50s that were always “on” when we were awake. How times have changed !!! Warm Regards, Steve

  • Appreciate your wonderful comment Steve. So happy that this evoked the memories which seem similar to mine. Yes times have changed and things were much simpler then. I suppose that when our grandkids grow up, they will find the world has moved on even more quickly !! So long as we can keep up eh? LOL
