Built in 1857, Garroorigang is a unique heritage home lived in by the collateral descendants of Explorer Hamilton Hume. Filled with a rare collection of 150 years of colonial and Australian history, Garroorigang is included in the Register of the National Estate as a site of national significance.
The home’s history and contents reflect its time as a teamsters Inn on the route to the goldfields, a private school for gentlemen’s sons and today as a classic example of a private residence in the Victorian era. The schools history can be found here

I’m a Sydney based photographer. Photographic interests are the outdoors, people, action, HDR and creative works as well as pretty much everything I guess.

In Denmark we have a children’s book called “Otto is a rhino”. It’s about a boy who finds a magic pencil – everything drawn with it becomes alive. He is not aware of that until he draws a big Rhino on his mothers yellow wallpaper. First it starts to bulge out – this is where your picture reminded me. Then it steps out of the wall – a big yellow Rhino – causing all kinds of problems – eating everything in sight.
You have a rare gift Ian for making the ordinary special and drawing attention.
This is wonderful work my friend ☺

  • Hi Kira. “Otto is a rhino” sounds like a wonderful book and I would have liked to have been able to read that to my son when he was little. Kids have such fabulous imaginations anyway and it is stories such as this which help to bring out their creativity. I used to teach creative thinking in corporate some time back and I guess I still see things differently as do so many other wonderful artists here. Thanks so much for the lovely compliment dear Kira, i so much value your input on my work.
