I put this image up to demonstrate the power and unpredictability of the sea. This was taken on 18 Sept ‘10 at Nth Curl Curl on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, NSW. It is one of my favourite haunts.
I had spoken to another photographer on my first visit here and he told me about being washed off a reasonably high ledge in the front of the cliff during big seas and all his camera gear was ruined.
In this image, the boy in the red wetsuit has just been smashed against the railing. He has some damaged ribs but told us later that it was OK because his Mum was a doctor and that they would get x-rays at a friend of hers place that Sat night.
The size of the boys at the top of the cliff give an idea of how high the splash is, an awesome sight.
