Nothing exists if I do not

Just something to think about….

The mud is thick and it sticks
All over your body, when you lie there
Struggling to get up to your feet.

But the mud could be sand,
It could be water,
It could even be air.

Because everything is relative,
And owes its existence to your perceptions
And what you choose to see and to believe.

If I told you I knew everything, would you believe me?
Or would you scoff and smirk,
And pretend to know better than me?

But I do know everything and so do you.
You just don’t know it,
You choose not to.

Well now you know,
How will your thinking change?
Will you pay attention to the reflections usually unseen?

The beggar in the street holds in his hands,
The same potential as a new born babe.
He has a story to tell, just as meaningful as your own.

We exist with our polar opposites.
Without evil, we’d see no good.
Without darkness and black, we’d see no light nor white.

Each colour of the rainbow is part of another -
No clear distinction to be seen.
But rather a silent transition from one to the next.

Nothing disappears, it just changes form.
Similarly there is no right or wrong,
Just perceptions and different points of view.

So respect everything around you –
My eyelashes, the coffee mug in your hands,
Your enemy’s ignorance, and your lover’s embrace.

Respect the passion that leads to war,
As well as the courage and strength that it takes
To forgive and accept what has happened.

Our trials are only made conscious when seen
In a negative light, with nothing to be gained,
But a tired, teary face with mud-covered hands.
