Bullet with Butterfly Wings

I managed to put together a home made lightbox, and this is the first proper result I’ve had with it (it’s a composition, of course).

Thank you for the comments, guys. Luckily, my dad has a box with souvenirs from his army days (it’s compulsory in Brazil, not that he’s ever been in any conflict).

Christina, you’re right. “Bullet with Butterfly Wings” is the name of a Smashing Pumpkins song (great song, by the way). :)

Saw this in the buyer’s booth.. compelled to seek out the original. It is an amazing composition. The simple sybolisim of the piece shows such a depth of the world we live in. Well done

  • Nando MacHado replied

Thanx betha. I suppose it’s an everpresent reality, even when one doesn’t live in a conflict area.

  • WingsOfAngels

    WingsOfAngels

Awesome Shot.. it would make a great tshirt!!

  • Nando MacHado replied

Thanks WingsOfAngels. This was, in fact, a t-shirt for a while, but it had some problems with any colours that weren’t white, so I deleted it…

  • WingsOfAngels

    WingsOfAngels

You’re so very welcome Nando.. and that definitely sucks.. it’s too bad that the image couldn’t be saved somehow.. so that when it is transferred.. it highlights it on other colored tshirts.. there has to be someway to do that.. hmmmm

  • Nando MacHado replied

Hi, the comment above also applies to your question ;)

  • blueeyesjus

    blueeyesjus

I must agree with wings here, we were both discussing how this should definitely be a t-shirt, is it still possible to buy as a white t?

  • Nando MacHado replied

There – It’s in my clothing. Have a look. In other colours it’d show as a white square with the image in it… also, at the moment I’m photoshopless, so I can’t really sort it out now…

  • blueeyesjus

    blueeyesjus

Thanks so much Nando, i really appreciate you doing that

  • WingsOfAngels

    WingsOfAngels

If nothing else, I would see about having a transfer made of it.. then perhaps finding a way to create an image from that.. something that might work .. as for being photoshopless.. um if nothing else you might try this link.. there are older versions of photo programs and they might help at least a little. www.oldversion.com

  • Dylan DeLosAngeles

    Dylan DeLosAng...

I haven’t yet read the artist or anyone else comment on the actual significance of this image, if one can be so presumptuous to do so.
The only message I can draw form this image is that Religion kills, i.e., behind every bullet is a faith of some sort. I love it.

  • Nando MacHado replied

Hi Dylan. In fact, it’s suppose to associate guns/wars with death. However, I like your interpretation on religion/beliefs versus pain/suffering. Thank you for your comment.
