Odin

Odin

This is Odin….he lives at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. Odin is an 8 year old White Bengal Tiger who was hand raised, his trainer is Lee Munro. Odin is 10 feet long from nose to tail and he loves to swim; he is the star of the exhibit “Odin’s Temple of the Tiger”. Odin’s mother was the first White Tiger born at the park.

I was so taken by this guy, he is so handsome and has such a personality. The face he is making here is actually keeping the water from going up his nose.

A century ago there were about 100,000 tigers in the wild. Now there are just 2,500 adults, with the Bengal
variety almost extinct. None has been seen in the wild since the last white tiger was shot and killed in 1958.

SENSATIONAL capture of one of the most wonderful extremely highly endangered creatures on this planet! The name Odin – ruler of the Norse gods – is remarkably apt for this magnificent creature!Thank you for sharing this amazing image with us!

  • ibjennyjenny replied

Odin is remarkable, I had so much fun photographing him. This look on his face is somewhat scary when it’s heading towards you even with glass between us. I didn’t learn about the meaning of this look until later…the keeping water out of his nose. I laughed so hard.

AWESOME!!! Great capture of this beautiful animal. It saddens me so that there are no more in the wild. Thank heaven for animal sancturaries where they are protected. Not the same as their natural habitat, but they are living, being cared for and they are safe. ~:)

Stunning capture and thanks for the little insight into Odin’s world…He is so beautiful….I cant believe there are some of our race who believe its ok to ravage a beautiful, powerful, amazing species to the point of extinction…...we all need to keep fighting for these guys…
Thank you for your stunning captures, just beautiful…Inspirational to me for sure!
    Peace Always,

Thank you for taking the time…really, it means so much to me. My hope for this photograph was to give it a voice I am thrilled that people are listening. Odin is a magnificent animal, I cannot imagine a world where tigers did not exist, what a sad day that would be. It cannot happen, we have to see to that, we have a responsibility not just to these animals but to our children as well. Because of people like you, the example we set will be a good one and the world we leave them will be a better one. Thank you so much.
