Red Bubble meet up Middle Head Sydney Harbour National Park Mosman
The long awaited Middle Head meetup is just around the Corner Sun 17-2-13. At this stage we have a couple of locations to choose from for the Sunrise. The most ideal being the Fort & Gun Emplacements at the end of Old Fort Rd. The Sunrise is at 0631 & will appear just to the North of South Head, between the Heads. Alternative location is the Lookout & Gun Emplacements at the end of Suakin Drive there is a Car Park behind the Buildings at the Intersection of Suakin Drive & Commonwealth St. Breakfast will be at Frenchys Cafe. Adriano & I are going to do a recce on Saturday morning & will report further details.

Well midnight as I type this & the rain is tumbling down outside. Adriano & I were going to carry out our rescheduled recce in the morning (you know, the one that was washed out 2 Saturdays ago :-( ). We will try again on Wednesday morning. The weather report looks a bit ordinary for the rest of the week so we can only hope for the best & maybe open some discussion about the possibility we reschedule the Event if the weather looks crook for the Weekend. If we get a recce in on Wednesday (weather permitting) We will at least have some more info for you. Fingers crossed Folks.
A few finer details for Sunday.
Sunrise is 0632 with first light at 0605. We should be at the meeting point by 0545 to allow for the short walk out to the Headland. The meeting point is at the very end of Middle Head Rd at the beginning of Old Fort Rd. If you have a GPS, enter Middle Head Rd & Cobblers Beach Rd as intersecting Streets. Please also refer to Google Maps in Satellite view. Middle Head Rd ends at a Boom Gate which is the start of Old Fort Rd which is a National Parks Road. As you approach the Boom Gate you will see a Car Park to the left on the corner of Cobblers Beach Rd. There is heaps of parking with a large Car Park to the right as well. I will use the LHS. All parking in the area is metered after 8am so if you are not done by then, take a punt or feed the Meter.
Breakfast will be at Frenchys Cafe which opens at 0700, they do not take bookings & I have seen it quite crowded but if we hit it early enough (after 0800) we should be OK. There is free parking near Frenchys, the entrance is opposite the intersection of Middle Head Rd & Cobbittee St. Parking on Middle Head Rd as well.
After Breakfast there is plenty more to see. It is well worth the walk to check out the beautifully landscaped Middle Head Gun Placement & the Gunners Barracks (A stunning Sandstone Building currently an up market Tea House, Wedding & Reception venue) This area can be accessed by Car as well via Suakin Drive & a Car Park off Commonwealth Ave. Once again, pls refer to Google Maps. There is also good Public amenities at both locations
As you will all be aware, the weather has been a real mixed bag all week with more of the same predicted over the next few days. Adriano & I took a punt on Wednesday morning & were rewarded with a great morning so fingers crossed for more of the same. I will be there fair weather or foul so if you awaken on Sunday morning to foul weather, it is your call to come & join me for Coffee & perhaps a shoot somewhere else or head back to bed.
I am really looking forward to catching up with everybody & I know of at least 2 attendees who are sporting brand new Cameras & 1 with a borrowed Rig. See you all Sunday morning.
