Artist's Description

This is my …“Homage to Piero della Francesca”.
One of the “Greats” of the Italian Renaissance and in particular, the Florentine School of artists.
The colour BLUE features strongly in many of Francesca’s works; research has suggested, by many, that blue is the most popular colour in the world. Of course that is debatable.
I have featured in this collage, a cascade of tin, vintage Dragonflies, which I found in an old cigar box in an Op Shop! After reading about Francesca’s life, I decided to use this beautiful and amazing insect as a metaphor in this work; they symbolise…“Power and Poise”, as well as…..“Strength, Courage and Happiness”: attributes that this artist surely expressed in his stunning works…. and apparently lived by.
Mixed media collage on canvas block. Unframed. Embellished with found images and objects. Metallic paint, Silver leaf, and acrylic paint.
