Have you ever wondered how they worked out how to design the wing of an aeroplane then just look at the wings of this Pacific Gull as it climbs almost vertical. Notice those small feathers on the front of the wings? This photo was taken in Coffin Bay, South Australia.

    Thank you all for your nice comments. Most times you get a photo of a bird flying overhead but rarely do you get one where it is soaring straight up and until you do you do not even realize that they have those feathers on the front of their wings to help them do that steep climb.
