The stars shook the sky
moments captured in the fallout
the sky poised
at the brink of splitting into two
selections of vibrating lights
transpose the configurations with new limits
histories being simultaneously invented
new discoveries lost in the reverb
Each flash and hum given drama
the sky consuming every particle
arcing fire flowing downward
burning out and penetrating
what it never was
wavelike transmissions recapture
information lost as time began
up high the moon struggles to see past its own shadow
The fate of a clear sky is always one of loss
warmth disappearing into a faint notion
the sun sea and land becoming one
clearing waves swirl
to an unknown beat
lone entities singled out and transported
endless possibilities dancing
with accusation and failure
waves linking to waves
offer up new beginnings like the shuffling of cards
Trees mix with other trees
branches move back and forth
explosions of meaning emanate
from behind the rock face
shifting sands slope down
communicating their need and shelter
individual grains rolling
toward the land forgotten
sometimes when we see less
there is less
Caught at the point where vision melds with sound
the air becoming a shapeless blanket
my own thoughts pitch and wail
a noiseless wind running over a stationary leaf
this is what I imagined
so long ago
every echo crying out
burdening the night and signalling
the unknowable depth we’re in
Every sense captured is made supple
love held like a prisoner
knowledge becoming as useful as formless time
the experience received
constantly bigger than the individual
part of me made no longer mine
as spurs of light flash by
I try to regather what I was
the past like always
moving through and overtaking the future
Abstract situations gather rhythm
the element of surprise falling away
into the darkness
new ideas lie covered in dust
love has to be action
to sit and wait is like trying to forget
the only thing I know
exists when you are here
The corners of sky ablaze
light like despondent flame
pours downward
catching your every curve
folding over and sealing each of the sullen edges
my vision feeling just like religion
your eyes so soft and warm
hold the night at bay
and lead me into
what it was I’d forgotten
To give life is the same as taking
fire equals water
sky is lost without ground
each branch of sight is one more thing to hold onto
perhaps now equals then
now is the same as never
the present can only exist
if we let it
things will not always be the same
