Slam Dunk by James Cole

This photo was taken in Wollongong, NSW. As soon as I saw the waves crashing over the breaker, I knew it was just a matter of time before someone copped it. I found a nice spot to sit and wait. Twenty minutes later, this kid rode his bike to the end and the biggest wave I’ve seen slammed into the breaker and completely drowned the kid. I was amazed he wasn’t swept off the path. There was a moment when he disappeared that got my adrenalin rushing.

Great set James. He is one lucky kid!

  • Thanks Di. He is. Very lucky. For a moment I felt guilty about not warning him. But if I had, I wouldn’t have got the shot…
