Conclusions.
I could give a timed breakdown of my day, like I did with the wedding (I took notes whenever I had a chance to stop), but what it basically all boils down to is this:
I don’t like fashion photography.
Thanks to one of my friends giving me “think happy” pep talks recently, I’m reminded that things that don’t make me happy are probably not worth pursuing.
So now my problem is that I may,...
Confidence.
My brother’s signed me up for another job shooting alongside him, this time for a somewhat high-profile fashion/modelling event. The shoot is on Sunday, and I’m quite frankly terrified.
I’m a homebody. I spend 90% of my time in my apartment, dressed in baggy jeans and huge jumpers. I deal with cats, and objects, and flowers, and sunsets. People are a whole new ballpark for me, especially…
Permission.
Just got permission from the bride and groom to put several of the wedding photos up for sale:

Results.
It’s been a bit longer than the “week or two” I mentioned in my last journal, but I was finally paid yesterday.
$200!
I’m still in shock. I realise this isn’t a great deal as far as income goes, but I was expecting something like $50. And it couldn’t have come at a better time – we’ve had a lot of expenses this month, and this is a welcome boost to our finances.
Really happy about it…
Progress.
I applied for a job at a local bookstore recently, and apparently failed by a very narrow margin. The news that I wasn’t “enthusiastic enough” was somewhat offset by my brother’s visit this morning, during which I passed him a DVD of my edited photos from the wedding, and was told that I’d be paid sometime this week or next.
Maybe it’s the way I’ve been brought up, but freelancing seems so …
20080316: Pras & Ananth's Wedding
5:30am
I’m woken from a hot, restless sleep by my equally sleepy brother, and we both trot off for showers, attempting not to walk into any walls on the way. Thank heavens for high water pressure – the jets shock me into wakefulness in seconds, and then it’s just a matter of shivering my way into the all-black gear I’ve chosen for today’s events. Surprisingly, I don’t look too bad, and b…
Baptism by fire.
That’s the phrase I was after in my previous journal, not trial by fire. Nobody died. Which is a good thing, considering it was a wedding!
It was… things moved so fast. I had very little time to be nervous – I’ve not moved around so much, so quickly, nor had to think on my feet so consistently, for years. I didn’t count the number of people that eventually showed up for the ceremony,...
Opportunities?
My brother called me up yesterday to ask if I want to help him with something this Sunday. The ‘something’ has turned out to be an Indian wedding with 600+ people in attendance. He wants us to split up at the start, as apparently in Indian weddings, the groom is just as important as the bride, so things will be happening at both of their houses.
For the record, I’ve never done portrait pho…
