Hugh Townsend Harris paints with a depth of feeling he translates in terms of vibrant color and creative composition. Throughout his life he has been interacting with his environment by artistic representations in graphite, ink, watercolor, acryliic and oil on paper, canvas and wood. Currently his primary medium is acrylic paintings, with secondary mediums of watercolors and pen & ink drawings. Having lived in the areas adjacent to the Chesapeake Bay or Atlantic Ocean for much of his life, his work has frequently reflected that enviornment. In recent years he has broadened his subject matter to reflect a larger arena of life. He blends representational work with exciting colors that quite often add a quality of the abstract. His work hangs in private collections and business or educational settings over much of the mid-Atlantic region and beyond.
