This sad and neglected Lockheed Neptune lays idle in a paddock beside the Newell Highway, 7km south of Dubbo – sadly, as the property is for sale, I don’t know what will become of this grand old lady of the air!
Nice one Joe, perhaps Canberra War Museum might be interested! Looks like a fine old truck in the background, regards PJ
Temora Aviation Museum or HARS (who have a Neptune in their collection with a lot of switches outta this old girl) were my first thoughts! I’d like to see her in the air again. As for the truck – I think it’s a Mack! I can’t remember…..
It does look sad and neglected doesn’t it… Hopefully someone will want it and look after it because it would be a shame to see it destroyed…
I want someone to find a spot in their heart and get this rather regal lady back into the air!
I,m not that will ever happen again, but could be made into a good feature at some rural park like on the Hume highway on route to Sydney they have a submarine on display, regards PJ
You never know – the property she sits on went up for auction today (15/10/2011) but did not make reserve so she gets a reprieve!
Nice find Joe. I too wonder what will happen to the old girl. – Ted
I know the guys who had this plane in their museum where she sits now looking all alone and sad!
