The Outlaws

The town was new
The townsfolk too
The barbers and saloon
The sherriff sat upon the stool
To use the gold spittoon
The swinging door flew open
And to the dealers fright
The oulaws all stood in a row
Like a pack of wolves at night

The outlaws walked to the table
They were an ugly band
The leader sat upon the seat
The dealer dealt his hand
The outlaws grinned in great delight
thier leader bet the lot
And then he flashed an ace hand
And took the God damn pot

And when the night was over
With the money they had won
The outlaws rose to their feet
And laughed like they were one
But as he rose to his feet
And finished of his lard
A problem struck the outlaw group
On his seat there sat a card

The outlaw’s smiles turned to horror
The sheriff drew his gun
The sheriff cried out “Prey to god”
“And also to his son”
But like a flash of lightning
Even quicker than the wind
The outlaws drew their pistols too
A fight would soon begin

And the outlaws guns were fire’n
The sheriff’s his were too
Bullets were fly’n
Across the new saloon
And as the dust settled
And the townsfolk gathered round
The lkeader with his pistol drawn
Fell to the dusty ground

Written while I was at school in a 40 minute class and then some minor changes have been made but it is pretty close to the original that I did years ago.
