Melancholy (The House of Flying Daggers)

i.

In the house of flying daggers
The remains of the wind are scattered
The rights of the poor have no limit
Horse shoe distribution all that matters

In the house of flying daggers
Couriers of the king reborn
Examined on the necessity of war
Plaintive priests and isolated pawns
Seem to triumph as they mourn

In the house of flying daggers
Attorneys turn back tired pages
Defending birds into cages
Grieving with their careless scorn
In fact, only time itself is quiet
And wouldn’t care to ask for more

ii.

Outside I stand in jeopardy
Bankrupt before the law
Wondering what reason
You’re still looking for

The gatekeeper reaffirms me
But he won’t let me through
“Love and theft are much the same” he says
“When thoughts of war can’t be shattered,
In heeding strangers clearly in your view
There is tension you don’t need
And don’t follow after anyone that’s fatter”

iii.

From the east a rushing wind blows suddenly
Sweeping wise men and drifters off their feet
Torn to shreds I walk on and on
And soundly fall asleep when it’s time to go
Believing you were necessary
And that only horseman there could possibly be true
