The Price of Flowers

The flowers of existence left, unpicked
Seed a burden to themselves
Turning to indulgence, in earth inherited
While the price of existence is measured out in bread
Blood money can’t remember balanced views
Stemming from the broken cup
Of good fortune’s life and death

maybe it should just be the cup of death. anyone?

While the price of existence is measured out in bread
Blood money can’t recall the balanced view
Stemming from the cup of life and death

Does it have to be measured in bread? Could it not be measured out in each breath?

    I’m a stickler for perfect rhyme! :-P

While the price of existence is measured out in each breath
Blood money can’t recall the balanced view
Stemming from the cup of both life and death

broken cup sounds good… it creates a better flow.

but breath sounds better than bread! :-P

I don’t like imperfection in rhyme, it sounds like an excuse for someone who kind find the right word to rhyme with. haha
