H-K226

we will grow old in this place
where insistent sun
bleaches the memory
of touchstones.
yet our children feel at home
and grow impatient
with mothers who need road maps
and are frightened of the dark.

Oblivion. Love the indistinct stair steps and the seriousness of their expressions. Wonderful—as always my friend

  • hsien-ku replied

thankyou very much maureen. they’re such serious girls – and despite a 10 year age gap they talk about everything together. makes me wish i’d had a sister . . . my brothers were always wonderful but there are things that one can only share with a sister.

  • lianne

    lianne

I do love this treatment with the blurred edges to sharpen the focus on the main subject. And in this case, such a beautiful candid that captures the essence of being an adolescent girl these days – so much angst. Wonderful backdrop! And such a lovely poem to interpret it all for us. Your artistry J seemingly knows no bounds!

  • hsien-ku replied

thankyou my dear lianne. these girls are my daughters sitting together, as they so often do, to share all those secrets that are only spoken between sisters. not even the presence of their annoying photographer mother could disturb their conversation that day :)

Yes, but can the mothers ever read the road maps??!! I love Lisa’s comment too..brings back such a rush of memories of intense pubertal moments on dark staircases, and times when one threw the map away anyhow, and just drove headlong into it all. H-K you are a hec of a driver on this bus! Very nice work always .(glad to sit on your bus…)

  • hsien-ku replied

  • linaji

    linaji

what draws me in of course is your focal point here but more so it is the lush light on these two as if a special moment has been given to them.. either school is out.. or inbetween classes.. there are moments in our young lives that are heavenly between two people discovering life and sometimes each oher.. be it in love or pain.. this scene could be either. your words agree with my view. I did not read tilll now.. yes.. a touchstone moment.. so sweet when we first discover privacy.. something in a low commodity when one is in youth days..
brill friend.. you have set a tone of excellence.. your a natural feeling artist.. no matter what you lay your hands on,
life springs forth you allow for your imagination and dreams to realize without effort…. Fast and fun and never a dull moment . this life!!! xxx
