H-K099
Howl, somebody, through the stony twigs
Or dance a shape of life along the valley,
For the image fades and its creator
Sleeps in the sullen heat.

Rosemary Scott
Oh…my…. Lord!!!! This is sensational….. so moving, so touching….. your treatment is exquisite!!
hsien-ku replied
thankyou Rosemary. Went to visit a friend today in the Friedhof III cemetery in Berlin and couldn’t resist stopping to photograph this sorrowful lady (despite the tiny pangs of superstition!).
Matt Bottos
what a wonderful statue.. love the way you’ve composed the shot. The lighting is great!
hsien-ku replied
thanks very much Matt!
Shelly Harris
This is wonderful, I love how dark it is and how the ray of light hits her. So Beautiful….
hsien-ku replied
thanks very much Shelly – I was lucky with the light yesterday afternoon and she was so striking I couldn’t resist taking her photograph!
Andrew Makowi...
A really beautiful image Judith. I love the tones and light on the statue. She is so forlorn, maybe the light is hope.
How this pic affects me changes all the time when I contemplate the pic. A few minutes ago she was forlorn, now I see her as peaceful.
This type of ambiguity is something I value very highly. A masterful work.
hsien-ku replied
thank you very much Andrew- what a wonderful observation. I had seen her as a magdalene-figure – redeemed by sorrow – but you are right, now that I look again, she is peaceful too. very kind of you to comment.
DragonFlyer

lianne
This is just the most evocative image – your treatment adding to the feeling of sorrow that weighs so heavily on her. Truly stunning – poetry in an image.
hsien-ku replied
she is truly full of sorrow – the sorrow of stone – immortally so. thankyou for seeing that in her. isn’t it strange that sometimes sadness and beauty are indistinguishable one from the other?
