Dénouement to dénouement, he took a personal pride in
the certain, certain way he lived his own, private life,
but nevertheless, they shut off his gas; nevertheless, the
bank foreclosed; nevertheless, the landlord called;
nevertheless, the radio broke,
And twelve o’clock arrived just once too often,
just the same he wore one grey tweed suit, bought one
straw hat, drank one straight Scotch, walked one
short step, took one long look, drew one deep breath,
just one too many.

so thought-provoking,h-k – you are the master/mistress? of poignancy. I treasure your posts.

The magpie has even posed perfectly for you to illustrate the beautiful words you have chosen here J!!! I was trying to think of a different word to nadine – but there is none more appropriate for this image together with K Fearing’s poem than – extremely extremely poignant – the most heartfelt artistic combination! Wonderful work :)))
hsien-ku replied
thanks K! yes the magpie was very cooperative! I caught him outside the supreme court building in Canberra. He looked all for the world like a barrister on his way to work!

Good shot. I love magpies. wonderful singers !!
hsien-ku replied
thanks Gregory – it’s a pity that you can’t include sound in a photograph!

i like magpies almost as much as currawongs
nice image
hsien-ku replied
thanks sparrowdk – I also like them both (maggies and currawongs) – Butcher birds too. .. not quite as handsome, perhaps, but with a song to die for.

I got to agree with the butcher birds. Each spring down at the park one dive bombs my dog and hits him every time. Then he lands in the tree and give his victory song. I crack up every time.
hsien-ku replied
oh that’s priceless! he’d better be careful – one day your dog will catch him!
