This is my favorite self-portrait, though not my favorite pair of shoes. The backdrop is my dad’s driveway some months after I’d painted something or other on it.

I’d do a self-portrait in a mirror or with a timer, but I’m just not good at posing. This is the most I see of myself, most days, aside from my hands, which could be the subject of another great self-portrait.
