I love quilts! I know this seems old fashioned, but I am infatuated by them. Most of my inspiration comes from the fact that my mother and grandmother always had a quilt or sewing project on their laps, so quilts are like “home” to me. It only seems natural to incorporate them into my painting. My other fetish is barns… I can get so excited about a barn. I don’t know how many accidents I’ve almost caused when I brake too quickly in awe of a beautiful barn.
You’ll see barns, quilts, and golden retrievers in most of my paintings. There must be some others who want to show the beauty of Kentucky’s rich heritage and landscape… I may be old fashioned, a bit wrongside out, not modern, but I like to express the love and appreciation I have of the seemingly simple beauty I have around me. I think therefore I am. I am who I am: quilts, barns, rolling green hills, my golden retrievers, falling down frame houses where linger ghosts of the past, all the beauty that surrounds me as I drive down the country lanes of Kentucky.
