The Skipjack Stanley Norman by

The Skipjack Stanley Norman is an Educational Ambassador for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation who’s mission is to promote a better understansing of the Chesapeake Bay, it’s ecosystem, it’s challenges from pollution and overfishing. The skipjack is anchored at the City Dock in Annapolis, Maryland USA.

The skipjack was built in 1902 in Salisbury, Maryland, designed to dredge oysters. At the height of commercial oystering in the late 1800’s there were over 1000 skipjacks. Today there are about 10 remaining. The skipjack fleet on the Chesapeake Bay is the last fleet of boats in the United States working under sail.
