I could easily imagine myself living on a barge, and travelling the many canal-ways of England and Wales. The thrill of waking to a different outside scene would be absolute bliss. I feel sure, as a photographer, the life would be ideal, as there would always be something new to photograph along the way. We all have our dreams :O)
I took this photograph near Hungerford, beside the Kennet and Avon canal, on a bright, crisp, November morning.

I live in sunny Southampton,England with my wife June. Retired, I am able to dedicate more time to my hobbies and interests, which are, photography, photo manipulation, cooking, gardening, reading, sightseeing, chess, painting, a variety of music and computing.
Up until I was fifteen, I was known as Les, and as I lived in Hooton in the Wirral, I became known as Les from Hooton, hence my pseudonym “Hootonles”. Since my leaving Hooton I have preferred to use my middle Christian name John.

  • I appreciate your comment; thank you Irene.
I once hired a barge for a week’s holiday, with my family in Wales; it was brilliant but going over a high aqueduct was a bit scary
