Australian Birdlife - Galah by

The Galah (cacatua roseicapilla) is about 36 cm and can be found in most parts of Australia especially in agricultural and tree scattered grassland areas. I found this one at Sussex Inlet, NSW. They usually travel in large noisy flocks and nest in chewed out hollows in eucalypt trees. They are ‘acrobatic clowns’, hanging upside down from perches and screeching loudly and flapping their wings while playing around with their fellow galahs. To be called a ‘galah’ in Australia could insinuate that you’re a bit of an idiot or fool. ;)
